SUMMARY
Encyclops Newman, 1838
A single species, E. californicus (Van Dyke, 1920) is thought to occur in the Pacific Northwest. However this record is based on the existence of a single museum specimen taken in central Oregon in 1972 (see species page for more detail).
World Distribution
The genus consists of 10 species worldwide. Two of these are endemic to North America, including the type, caeruleus (Say, 1826), and californicus (Van Dyke, 1920). The eight Palaearctic species are concinna Holzschuh, 1991, hubeiensis Ohbayashi & Wang, 2004, luteoscelis Chou & Ohbayashi, 2010, macilenta (Kraatz, 1879), olivacea Bates, 1884, ussuricus Cherepanov & Cherepanova, 1975, viridipennis Makihara, 1978, and x-signata Chiang, 1981.

"Linsley and Chemsak (1972) listed the distribution of this lepturine as "coastal northern California". This may now be expanded to include west-central Oregon based on a single specimen present in the Oregon State University Collection. Collection data are as follows: Lane Co., Blue River, H. J. Andrews Experimental Forest, mid-age Douglas-fir stand, 10-VII-1972, IBP Biome Survey, beating Tsuga." (Penrose and Westcott, 1974)
