Ranges from "southwestern Oregon to southern Sierra Nevada and coastal northern California." (Linsley and Chemsak, 1976)
Biology
MacRae and Rice (2007):
CALIFORNIA, Placer Co., Tahoe NF, 9 mi S Serene Lakes on Soda Springs Road, 30.vii.1995 (2), on flower Ceanothus cordulatus. The only other flower host recorded for this species is Cistanthe [5 Calyptridium] (Portulacaceae) (Linsley and Chemsak 1976).
Taxonomy and Nomeclature
barberi was treated as an independent species by all authors before Linsley and Chemsak (1976: 55). Swain and Hopping (1928) placed the species in their large genus Anoplodera, which was followed by Canova (1936) and Hatch (1971). Aurivillius (1912), Boppe (1921) and Essig (1926, p. 452) had the species in Strangalia.
There are no known synonyms for the species.
