Piodes LeConte, 1850:318
coriacea LeConte, 1850:318
Notes
- Piodes contains a single species worldwide, P. coriacea LeConte, which ranges throughout the Pacific Northwest. P. coriacea is relatively rare.
- Little is known about the life history of this species. Linsley and Chemsak (1972) provided a detailed bibliography, description, and illustration of the species. The only flower record given by those authors is Artemesia, and the adult flight period was reported as occuring between May and June.
- The only specimen posted to BugGuide.net as of November 20, 2013 was captured March 27, 2010 by Andrew McKorney at Dalles, Oregon, "at Deschutes river around the sage bushes."
- The Holotype, from "Oregon" is at the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology: http://insects.oeb.harvard.edu/mcz/recordlist.php
