Lepturinae
Desmocerus Dejean, 1821
Nomenclature
-
Subfamily: LepturinaeTribe: Desmocerini
Genus:
Desmocerus Dejean, 1821
SUMMARY
Notes
- Craighead (1923) had described the larvae and pupae of Desmocerus palliatus. According to Švácha and Danilevsky (1989: 15), Desmocerus larvae share a morphological feature with Pseudogaurotina that is unique among all Lepturinae. These authors argue that Desmocerus should likewise be included in the Rhagiini. However it is not clear based on adult morphology that the two genera are closely related.
- D. palliatus is used in Sykorova's (2008) molecular phylogeny of Lepturinae using 16s rDNA.
